The job
The lead came in while you were on a job. It gets answered anyway.
Somebody fills in the form at nine in the morning, or leaves a voicemail, or texts the number on the truck. You see it at seven that night. You mean to call back and then the next day starts.
They were not being picky. They called three places and went with whoever answered first. That job was yours and the only thing you did wrong was be busy doing the last one.
Nobody loses work on the first call. They lose it on the second and third one that never happened.
What a build looks like
Every lead gets answered in minutes, and chased until it answers back.
It watches wherever leads actually land. The form and the inbox are the straightforward part. Texts and voicemail depend on what your number runs on, and that is worth asking about early rather than late. A new lead gets a real reply within minutes, in your name and your words, with the few things people always ask: whether you cover their area, roughly when you could be out, what you would need from them. AI is what lets that reply answer the question they actually asked instead of firing a template at everyone.
Then it keeps going. A lead that goes quiet gets followed up on a schedule you set, two or three times over a couple of weeks, and stops the moment they reply or book. You see the whole thread, you can take it over at any point, and you get a short list each morning of who is waiting on you specifically.
It runs where the leads already are. Your inbox, your form, your phone number. If you keep a customer list, it writes to that too, as the conversation happens rather than whenever somebody remembers.
What it does not do
It does not pretend to be you.
It answers in your name the way your voicemail greeting does, and it says what you told it to say. It does not invent an answer to a question you have never answered, it does not quote a price, it does not promise a date, and it never gets on a call pretending to be a person. The second a lead asks something real, it stops and hands it to you.
It also will not sell for you. It buys you the first reply and the follow-ups you would not have made, and then the job is still won by you being good at it.
Questions
What you are probably wondering.
Our number is a cell phone. Can it read the texts people send us?
Not as it stands. A carrier cell line gives software no way in, and anybody who tells you otherwise is selling you something. The fix is moving your number onto a business phone service that does have a way in. That is a real change to how your phone works, it costs more to set up, and it is the most valuable version of this build when texts are where your work actually comes from. If they are not, I stick to the web form and email and leave your phone alone.
Is this a bot pretending to be me?
No, and I will not build that. The test I hold it to is simple: nothing it sends should embarrass you if the customer later learns how the reply was written. People forgive a fast acknowledgement from a machine. They do not forgive being fooled about who they were talking to.
What stops it from pestering somebody who already said no?
A no ends it, and so does a booking. The sequence exists to reach the people who simply never got back to you, not to wear anybody down. You set how many attempts and over how long, and it stops on the first clear answer in either direction.
We already have a CRM nobody updates. Does this need one?
No. A shared inbox and a spreadsheet are enough to begin with, and if you already pay for something it can feed that instead. The reason most of those sit empty is that updating them is a separate chore nobody owns, so buying one before you fix the follow-up just gives you a second thing to neglect.
Free 20-minute call
Twenty minutes. No pitch.
Tell me where your leads come in and what happens to the ones you cannot get to. You'll leave with what it would take to automate it, what it would cost, and whether it's worth doing at all. If it isn't, I'll say so on the call.
